foto 1The Final Conference of the Project took place in Brussels, Belgium, on 28th November, 2016. The event was organized by Project partner VTT – Technical Research Centre of Finland, with support from CERTH – Centre for Research and Technology Hellas. It was attended by Project partners and stakeholders’ representatives from 35 different organizations from Germany, Cyprus, Finland, Greece, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, Romania and Spain.

EU-PORTRAItS Project cross fertilization conference in Hamburg

CrossFerConfA Cross-Fertilization conference on new developments in ports and future port worker training needs, organized within the framework of the EU-PORTRAItS project (European Port Workers Training Scheme), took place last week in Hamburg, Germany. The event, which was held on 26-27th May 2016, was organized by VTT – Technical Research Centre of Finland with support from Hamburg Port Training Institute GmbH - HPTI. It was attended by project partners’ and stakeholders’ representatives from 18 different organizations from Cyprus, Finland, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and Spain. The European Commission was also represented by the Project Officer Ms. Ioana Statu.

Barcelona and HPH in $6.5bn Automation Plan

BarcelonaHutchison Port Holdings (HPH) and the Port of Barcelona have announced an extension of HPH’s current concession agreement with Barcelona’s Europe South Terminal by another 15 years, where it plans to invest US$6.5 billion to fully automate the terminal, according to the Journal of Commerce.

EUPORTRAItS partner CFLI has launched a website that provides a panorama of the portworkers professional profiles.

The website, whose domain is lavorareinporto.it, gives the possibility for the people who work daily at the port to explain their jobs and the skills required to do it. Andrea Condotta, CFLI Project Manager, highlighted the usefulness for young people that may be interested in working at port industry for future employments.
